Abstract
Stress and anxiety are known disruptors of homeostasis of human body systems. Various modalities, such as yoga, mindfulness practice, physical activity, and medication, are implemented to decrease the symptoms of stress and anxiety. Suspension training exercise regimes have been gaining in popularity utilizing an individual's body mass as the solitary source of resistance. This study aimed to examine the effects of suspension training on anxiety, stress, and depression levels amongst a college-aged population. A total of 44 subjects were recruited and participated in a pre-and post-fitness assessment comprised of body composition and a DASS-21 survey. A 12-week suspension training intervention required participants to perform exercises for 50 minutes twice per week. A paired sample t-test was used to determine differences between pre-and post-assessments. The results indicated the stress, depression, and anxiety sub-scales, and overall DASS reduced significantly, p-value ≤0.05 for all scores.
