This presentation will share research and findings from a recent ethnographic study conducted in a local 3rd grade classroom which explored the implications and benefits of exposing young students to the complex nature of nonfiction text through the engaging context of nonfiction Author Studies. The presentation will briefly overview the theoretical framework, research questions and findings from the study, student artifacts, transcribed conversations and quotes and feedback from both students and the classroom teacher.
