Are Foreign Imposed Polities less stable than indigenous Polities?

At this stage in history little is actually known about the viability of foreign imposed regimes. One recent study suggests that foreign imposed regimes experience domestic challenges to its authority in forty-one percent of the years since the regime was first imposed (Enterline and Greig 2008). Such evidence does not bode well for foreign imposed regimes. However, questions do remain. First, is the record of political stability for foreign imposed regimes comparably worse than that of indigenous polities? Second, is the duration of the imposed regime shorter than that of indigenous regimes?
