Abstract
- The mission of APICS (the Association for Operations Management) is to “build knowledge and skills in operations management professionals to enhance and validate abilities and accelerate careers.” Unfortunately it is often unclear which knowledge areas and skills are the most important for practitioners in the profession to possess and what compensation levels look like across job functions in the field. This paper fills this gap for practitioners by reporting results from a salary and education survey of APICS members. The survey results benefit the profession by (i) tracking and disaggregating compensation for operations management professionals to provide a critical indicator of the strength and progress of the profession, and (ii) identifying those education skills/specific knowledge areas deemed necessary by practitioners for individual job classifications.
