Closing the Gap- Developing and Implementing Partnerships for a Robust Healthcare Workforce Presentation uri icon

Description

  • The New Hanover Healthcare Career Partnership (HCP) is a collaborative initiative designed to address regional workforce shortages by creating pathways and pipeline programs for students to explore healthcare careers. Through a unique partnership between Cape Fear Community College (CFCC), New Hanover County Schools (NHCS), University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, and with funding support from the New Hanover Community Endowment (The Endowment), this model engages students early, trains and educates the future workforce, and strengthens the local pipeline of nursing and healthcare professionals through all levels of education and builds connections with local healthcare employers.
The initiative incorporates a data tracking system that follows students across partner organizations, ensuring sustained engagement and long-term impact. This collaborative model provides systemic solutions to workforce shortages and can be adapted in other communities.
This session will provide an overview of the project, highlight the role of each partner, and share student impact stories that demonstrate how the partnership is helping to close workforce gaps. Panelists will also present practical, replicable projects that attendees can adapt within their own organizations and communitities.
