The Coastal Eco Explorer (CEE) mobile application showcases a collaborative project served through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between UNC Wilmington and local community partners to enhance environmental and outdoor education and digital engagement with North Carolina's coastal ecosystems. Initially launched with the NC State Parks to feature Carolina Beach State Park and Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, the CEE app features interactive trails with unique flora and fauna, with videos featuring content experts. This project is expanding the mobile application to include Wilmington's City Parks, starting with Halyburton Park, and adding interactive educational content for broader community outreach. This project supports K-16 student learning in app development, research, and outreach across disciplines like education, environmental science, and computer science, fostering STEM and environmental literacy. The app provides an engaging way to explore local biodiversity, aligning with UNCW’s regional impact goals.
