Using AI to Help Secondary Preservice Teachers Add Visuals to Instruction Presentation uri icon

Description

  • There is an assumption that visual learning and teaching are necessary, mainly for elementary and middle schoolers. However, high school students can also benefit from instruction that includes visuals to complement and expand text-heavy instruction. In fact, research indicates that learners understand teachers’ instruction better when text and visuals are present. High school teachers often struggle to add visuals to their instruction, but with the rapid growth of AI image-generated tools, teachers can use these tools to improve their instruction. This presentation will introduce best practices and strategies for the use of AI image-generated tools in English Language Arts (ELA) and challenges.
