Abstract
- Obtaining an understanding of a company’s business processes is key to the audit process. Business process diagrams are a visual representation of a business process, with Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) recognized as a standard method for process documentation. In this paper, we use skits from Saturday Night Live (SNL) to provide a specific process context for accounting students to create BPMN diagrams. We provide three examples of processes that are based on different SNL skits. Through these exercises, students become familiar with the BPMN standard and use specific features of BPMN in the creation of the process diagrams. In addition, as these processes are based on SNL skits, humor is used to facilitate and encourage students’ overall interest and engagement in learning BPMN.
