Abstract
- Article examines the efforts of Jiang Qian (1876-1942) to bring Buddhism into primary school classrooms in China in the 1920s and 1930s. Instead of improving the chances of Buddhism being accepted into the classroom by joining together Buddhist and Confucian ideals, Jiang exposed his group to charges of superstition and heterodoxy.
