Abstract

  • This article presents results from a study on teacher working conditions and student academic performance inside North Carolina’s charter schools. Findings indicate that teachers’ perceptions of both their own empowerment and the quality of their school’s leadership are significantly related to student performance. The authors discuss these findings and propose initial intervention strategies.
