Sensory & Family-Friendly Concert Experience; supported by awarded grants; partnership with Department of Psychology
Awarded a UNCW Office of the Arts Grant to partner with the Tom Cariveau, Assistant Professor of Psychology (UNCW), to create a concert experience appropriate and enjoyable for those with sensory sensitivitiesIdea was initiated and managed by UNCW student, Julia Meyer. Accommodations and activities were utilized: early entry to the venue and stage for acclimation, lights never fully dimmed, free wandering welcomed, dancing, and glow sticks encouraged. Zoom Clinic Session with the composer (William Pitts) of one of the pieces being performed
