Globalization is a concept often explored via interstate connections through a variety of global and regional institutions (both formal and informal). The concept, however, is also open to examination in a localized form through a ‘Bridge Country.” A bridge country is a state that presents the characteristics of (a) a deep nexus of global interaction, and (b) built upon a globally dispersed immigrant community. One such example is the Bridge country of Ireland. The Irish Diaspora is globally distributed across multiple regions of the world and maintains a variety of personal connections among the diaspora to maintain its identity. The bridge country is significant as a nexus for economic interactions, cultural dispersion, and social movements. This study focuses on Ireland as a driver for social movements, including revolutionary movements, and how Ireland has also experienced a snap-back to serve as a source of conflict resolution.
