Abstract
- The natural resources that draw tourists to coastal and marine zones underpin theeconomies of most small island developing states and coastal destinations andprovide myriad contributions to economic growth and human wellbeing. Yet, thehealth and beauty of these ecosystems - the very thing that draws people to coastaland marine destinations continues to be threatened by tourism itself. While theinherent balancing act of nature-based tourism has always been apparent, theunprecedented pause in global tourism induced by the pandemic has provided aunique opportunity to reassess and reset.
