Abstract
In this lesson, students engaged with Ableton Live and Ableton Push, where they created original beats and sampled audio using online databases. Across two classes, students identified, sampled, edited, and manipulated a kick drum, snare drum, hi-hat and additional percussive sounds using waveform mediums. In the culminating experience for this unit, students were tasked with creating four original digital beat patterns from sampled audio, each lasting 8-12 measures in length.
