Abstract
- The significance of interdisciplinary collaborations in a middle school setting is an important aspect of improving middle school students’ knowledge and abilities in school academics. The research chose to conduct this exploratory case study to investigate the influence project-based learning (PjBL) might have on the collaborative interactions of middle school students in grades 6th and 7th.A modified self-efficacy scale (Bandura, 1996) was used to examine the middle school students’ attitudes after participating in project-based learning tasks. Findings from this modified self-efficacy scale indicated overall capabilities as moderate towards completing tasks. The ratings from the self-efficacy scale of middle school aged participants was positive towards academic achievement for the subjects (Language arts, Math, Science, Social Studies) that were addressed in their project-based learning assignments. Overall the findings from this research study provide a critical stance for showing the effectiveness of project-based instruction on the middle school students’ achievement.
