Though undergirded by the critical pedagogy of Paulo Freire, this project was not structured as an academic, peer-reviewed endeavor. My colleagues and I organized an arts-based project to provide a space for student engagement in response to the neo-Nazi march on the University of Virginia campus. The principal collaborators are listed above, but support for the project included the broader college community with involvement from students in other disciplines as well. The project involved the creation of several murals. One was on display at the Warwick Center for the latter part of last semester. Others are being delivered to Charlottesville High School, whose principal is a Watson College alum. Still others will be given to local elementary schools.
