This study examines the effects of collegial supervisory practices on teacher empowerment and school performance. Data from the 2006 North Carolina Teacher Working Conditions Survey and the state’s ABCs assessment system were used to investigate the links between quality of instructional supervision, teacher empowerment and academic achievement in nearly 2,000 North Carolina schools.
