  • The purpose of the pilot study titled “Building STEM Education Materials to Positively Impact Children with Special Needs” is twofold. First, we propose to use the Cahill funds requested to develop curricular resources and establish baseline research on the knowledge development and increased motivation of students with autism while using hands-on, inquiry based science, technology, engineering and technology (STEM) specific lessons. Secondly, we want to effectively empower UNCW Watson College of Education (WCE), pre-service teachers to employ those strategies and resources to practice co-teaching strategies across two pedagogical domains: special education and science education.
