Dr. Kim Jamison is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she currently serves as the Co-Coordinator of the School Administration program. She earned a Doctorate in Education Administration and Policy Studies and M.A. in Educational Leadership and Administration from George Washington University, a postgraduate certificate in Gifted Education from the University North Carolina Charlotte, and a B.S. in Education from Towson University. Her research examines leadership preparation and practice within complex educational systems across PK-12 and higher education contexts, with particular attention to how leadership practice and institutional structures shape mentoring relationships, persistence, professional growth, and equitable access to opportunity.
Dr. Jamison’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. She also currently serves as the Program Chair for the Accreditation, Assessment, and Program Evaluation in Educator Preparation SIG for the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
Before her faculty appointment at UNCW, Dr. Jamison served as an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Administration, as well as Program Director at George Washington University. Prior to that, she served as a Senior Research Associate and Adjunct Professor, as well as in PK-12 education contexts as a school and district administrator, instructional coach, English as a second language specialist, and elementary and secondary teacher in Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina.
