Description

  • Nurse educators working in clinical and academic settings are knowledgeable about their specialty practice as educators. They have the potential to enhance the quality of nursing care and nursing education by disseminating their knowledge about education through scholarly writing. Scholarly writing is specialized in nursing, communicates original thought, includes support from a body of literature, contains formal language consistent with nursing, and is formatted in a manner consistent with peer-reviewed publications. The purpose of this session is to present a comprehensive, evidence-based plan that can be used to facilitate the development of scholarly writing skills. The plan can be used by nurse educators to develop their own scholarly writing abilities and those of colleagues and students. Research findings that served as the basis for the plan creation will be presented. The goal of the session is to prepare nurse educators to advance the quality of nursing care and nursing education through scholarly writing.
