Description
The Behavioural Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire (BREQ-2) is a 19-item questionnaire used to assess exercise motivation, which includes decisions to engage in physical exercise through the application of 5 subscales. Students enrolled in a basic studies wellness course completed the BREQ-2 as well as demographic questions. Data were analyzed to explore the association between exercise motivation and gender, age, race, college major, employment, and athlete status. This research provides essential needs assessment data about what motivates college students to exercise. This information can be used by recreational sport professionals to create and promote all types of recreational activities with particular relevance to wellness and fitness programs.
