Description
In 2009, undergraduate faculty at UNCW began a program to place pre-service teacher education students—both elementary and secondary—for 6 weeks in schools in Belize. In 2011, the university expanded this experience to mirror its Professional Development School (PDS) model and includes three schools in San Pedro Town, Belize, Central America, as another school “district:. The international model mirrors the PDS model used with schools surrounding the university and provides field experience for UNCW students, professional development for teachers and administrators in Belize, and consultation with the Minister of Education’s Office in Belize City.
