Abstract
- This article details the collaboration between a university faculty member and first grade teacher at Coastal Empire who co-taught in fall, 2009 the first PK-grade 2 TeachUNICEF curriculum unit, Water Use and Sanitation for All: Bringing the Issue Home with a culminating focus on World Water Day celebrated annually on March 22. The curriculum pilot informed the revision of the unit prior to publication; since its release, continued implementation of the unit’s lessons at Coastal Empire fosters important dialogue among curriculum developers at TeachUNICEF and elementary teachers regarding global education that is appropriate and meaningful for young learners.
