Description
I served as guest conductor for the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra's performance of Carmina Burana with large combined chorus of Cape Fear Chorale, the UNCW Chamber Singers, soloists Elizabeth Stovall, Nathan Matticks, and Aaron Cates, and the Codington Elementary Choir. The program also included the winners of the Richard R. Deas Young Artist Competition, which I also conducted: Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, Movement 1, Sofia Lukasik, soloist, and "Willow Song" from the Ballad of Baby Doe, Annabelle Arends, soloist. This concert at the Wilson Center was sold out. The orchestra itself hires instrumentalists from all over North Carolina and sometimes further afield. The soloists for this concert traveled from South Carolina, Washington DC, and Maryland, making the performing forces Regional in scope.
