The Factors Influencing Real Estate Prices in Poland Presentation uri icon

Description

  • ABSTRACT This research studies the relationship between Polish real estate markets and various national and international factors. A Polish real estate data set from January 1995 to December 2009 was assembled. We show that besides national macroeconomic variables, there are quite a few international factors having a relationship with housing prices in Poland; the unemployment level and the Warsaw stock index played the most significant roles in describing housing prices. International variables having significant influence, of the expected sign, were the PLN USD exchange rate, US Reits and foreign direct investment in Poland; as each increased, so also did home values in Poland in general, and Warsaw in particular.
