She Sat Where the light Awaited (Solo Exhibition) Presentation uri icon

Description

  • I was invited to present a solo exhibition at the Erie Art Museum, showcasing my recent paintings. Influenced by the visual culture of Isfahan, Iran, my work employs bold forms and patterned surfaces to explore abstraction, memory, and identity. Drawing on personal memories—particularly the symbolic imagery of Persian carpets—I create dreamlike spaces where past and present intersect. Through depictions of friends and family, I construct surreal yet intimate narratives that engage broader themes of gender, censorship, and the lived experiences of women within patriarchal systems.
