Abstract
- Evidence-based management (EBMgt) is recognized as a best practice in professional healthcare management decision-making. The purpose of this study was to assess whether graduate students in a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program who received instruction in EBMgt principles and the EBMgt practice model demonstrated increased knowledge, skills, and confidence in applying EBMgt practices. Graduate students in the study were given pre- and post-instruction assessments to evaluate the impact of EBMgt instruction on learning outcomes. The assessment data were collected, and a paired t-test was performed. The assessment results showed a statistically significant increase in students’ knowledge in EBMgt practice (t = -19.92, p < 0.001) and confidence in applying EBMgt in practice (t = −15.83, p < 0.001) following the instruction. We recommend incorporating EBMgt instruction into graduate healthcare management education programs to better prepare future healthcare leaders and administrators to make informed decisions based on the best available evidence rather than relying solely on professional experience or intuition.
