Professionalizing ourselves out of grassroots strengths? A case study approach looking into INGO/NGO executive decision-making Presentation uri icon

Description

  • This paper asks how the professionalism of INGO/NGO executives influences their accountability decision-making using a mixed methods case study design of qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys. Findings indicate that professionalism has trickled down to INGO/NGO executives, with individual factors of lower levels of professionalism, being female, and a NGO leader linked to more downward mechanisms, while higher levels of professionalism, being male, and an INGO leader are linked to more upward mechanisms.
