Schools, students and their families are often characterized by the community in which they are situated. These factors are not only often beyond the control of the community members but also might be only half-truths and stereotypes, leading us to over-generalize what we know—or think we know—about that community. This research-service project addresses issues of access to community resources by encouraging students and faculty to conduct first-hand investigations through a structured format, culminating in an action plan for discovering and developing resources, as well as validating existing resources.
