This in-person, interactive, presentation-style session invites participants to identify and discuss decision-making as a critical competency for healthcare administrators. While decision sciences guide making the “right” choice when the path is clear, what happens when it isn’t? This session explores how competency development through the human sciences and practical wisdom equips students to navigate uncertainty. Practical wisdom transcends rules, rubrics, and simulations, connecting students to real-world problem-solving in imperfect circumstances. Professors will learn strategies to help students transform this seemingly abstract concept into practical, actionable skills applicable in any healthcare environment, regardless of the classroom subject matter.
