This interactive hybrid workshop explores the importance of nurturing teachers’ holistic development, focusing on the human and ethical dimensions of teaching. By reflecting on their inner selves, character strengths, and values, teachers are better positioned to actualize personalized, learner-centered education. Through examples of practice in an instructional design course and stories from U.S. educators, the session highlights reflective practices that engage teachers in self-discovery, personal growth, and professional learning, including mindfulness and gratitude practice and the application of compassionate systems thinking tools. Through discussion and active participation, participants will discover why a holistic approach to teacher development is essential not only for supporting teachers’ well-being and agency, but also for transforming education systems toward sustainable development.
