Abstract
- One sherd was submitted for analysis from Project #6692, Field Bag #1122. The sherd was a grit-tempered, cordmarked bodysherd. The residue was extracted and interpreted according to the methods noted below. There was a relatively small amount of residue in this sherd, including a biomarker for possible manuring contamination. Interpretation of the residue was therefore difficult, but it did include two plant sterols and fatty acids that appeared primarily to derive from a mixture of plant and animal resources with plant probably predominating, and with a very small amount of conifer resin present. The overall interpretation was of a small amount of residue with possible manuring contamination, but that originally was used to process a mixture of plant and animal resources.
