Description
Approximately 1.28 billion adults aged 30–79 have hypertension, with two-thirds in low- and middle-income countries. An estimated 46% of adults with hypertension are unaware of their condition. Diagnosis and Treatment: Less than 50% (42%) of adults with hypertension are diagnosed and treated. Only 1 in 5 adults (21%) with hypertension have their condition under control. Medication adherence is crucial for effective hypertension management. Only 51% of Americans with hypertension adhere to their healthcare provider's medication recommendations. High adherence increases the likelihood of blood pressure control; non-adherence can raise the risk of death from 50% to 80%.
