The concert was titled “A Spring Musicale.” With this concept, I assembled a rather unusual program. I intermixed pieces from Tchaikovksy’s The Seasons and Fanny Mendelssohn’s Das Jahr (The Year) to give a colorful picture of the season. There were two Liszt transcriptions of songs about spring, a Chopin Prelude, and Schumann’s Papillons (a piece all about the Carnival ball season). Spoken commentary rounded out this well-attended event.
