Abstract
- Three pottery sherds were submitted for absorbed residue analysis from Woodruff Cave, 6LF126. Since the site was excavated in the 1970s, and the sherds were labelled and had been stored for some time, contamination was a concern in the analysis of the residues. However, two of the three sherds contained interpretable residues. One of the sherds showed two indicators for fish lipids, suggesting that fish or shellfish may have been processed in the vessel. The other interpretable residue was comprised of a mixture of animal and plant-based lipids, with animal-derived fats predominating.
