Between January and December 2009, 40768 invitations to participate in an online survey were randomly sent to APICS (the Association for Operations Management) members to determine the current state of the operations management profession. The objective of the study was to identify employment hiring trends, salary information, and professional educational needs for the APICS membership. The data collected provides valuable information for operations management professionals and supports the continuing education efforts of APICS. Beyond demographic and salary information, results indicate growth in a number of specific job categories of operations management and help define the desired skill sets in those areas.
