Welcome and Overview of UndergraduateResearch & Mentoring Summer Institute Five elements of High Impact Practices as way to frame theday: Intentional design, meaningful interaction, applied learning, reflection, demonstration of impact
High Impact Practices: Introduction to Community-Based Research across the Curriculum (CRAC)and Interdisciplinary Minority Student Research Group(IMSRG): This session will include an introduction to theimportance of High Impact Practices in undergraduateeducation, and an introduction to CRAC and IMSRG asexamples of high impact practice. This introduction willinclude an opportunity for attendees to reflect onmentorship & mentoring experiences.
Best Practice in Undergraduate Research Mentoring: This session will introduce IMSRG’s conceptual model as a way to engage minoritizedstudents utilizing evidence-based mentoring models,such as adaptive, trauma-Informed, interdisciplinary, &critical [race] mentorship approaches. This session willinclude case scenarios and role-playing with students,attendee engagement, and a post-reflective exercise on ways to adapt mentorship practices.
