Older adults are everywhere so those with gerontological skills should be. It seems easy enough. Those steeped in the world of gerontology training understand the need to prepare the next generation of aging specialists very well. But when exposed to gerontology for the first time students often ask “what is that?” Or “what can I do with that?” Employers often do not understand how to advertise for the skillset that gerontology education provides. This results in an artificial sense of a lack of jobs in the field. To address these challenges, the authors are engaged in the relaunch of a comprehensive website on Careers in Aging. The website will provide introductory definitions as well as resources for students, job seekers, employers, community partners, useful social media links, and webinars and podcasts with disciplinary experts. Our goal of this workshop is to gather a diverse group of stakeholders to provide feedback on our approach. The goal of the website is to be a comprehensive resource for anyone looking to gain a better understanding of the possibilities when it comes to careers in aging.
