Abstract
- Leisure includes non-work activities, such as recreation, travel and breaks from work. Regularly engaging in leisure can have many beneficial outcomes for work productivity, job satisfaction, mental and physical health, and overall well-being. This chapter will review definitions of leisure and discuss research on the effects of leisure across various domains for behavior analysts and academics. Additionally, potential strategies for effectively arranging meaningful leisure based on behavior-analytic principles are outlined here. This chapter concludes with a narrative of the authors’ experiences and perspectives on leisure at different stages in their academic careers.
