Abstract
- The overall goal of this project is to provide the student with an authentic applied learning opportunity to understand more deeply about the teaching of mathematics in Ethiopian classrooms as well as the impact of textbooks in these classrooms. She will further learn about textbooks and how this content supports the development of mathematical understanding and the process standards. This activity will help her understand the process of conducting research in education while learning about mathematics education in a developing country. The research activity will involve conducting a literature review, observing in Ethiopia’s schools, talking with Ethiopian teachers, analyzing mathematics textbooks, and writing a research manuscript.
