Abstract
- “General Education”, “Liberal Education”, “Foundational Studies” -- call these university-wide programs what you will, but do not overlook their powerful potential to enhance your Gerontology program's reach. Have you ever thought your program could attract more students if you could just (1) get them to know you are there and/or (2) get them past the "ew...old people" reflex? Inserting one or more of your courses into your school's core general education program is one way to achieve this goal. Others have argued for gerontology’s place in the general education curriculum (Anderson, 1999; Cummings, Galambos, & DeCoster, 2003), and we continue that call to arms here ten (and more) years later.
