Abstract
- In the Business Law literature, numerous scholars note the importance of developing in students an understanding of the attorney-client relationship, specifically in the business context. As a general counsel is the ultimate business lawyer, incorporating a study of the corporate counsel role can help promote that understanding. Just as scholars have pointed to perspective-taking as a method by which to develop a strong working relationship between corporate counsel and their business clients, that same principle can be applied at a pedagogical level. This Legal Inbox exercise provides an opportunity for students to apply Business Law concepts while role-playing a company’s general counsel responding to a series of emails from company employees via e-memo, a modern and growing legal writing format.
