An assignment was created that centered on disaster relief that encouraged the students to truly see the ramifications of the storm on the lives of those around them and provided a way to give back to the community. The assignment was to read three articles relevant to disaster relief which were provided and to then complete six hours of disaster relief. The venue of this relief and the county in which they served was their choice. The final component was the submission of a critical reflective journal that responded to prompts provided by the instructor.
