Abstract
- Narcissism has recently received attention through claims by some researchers that there has been a significant increase of self reported narcissism of college students known as Millennials. It has been reported that Millennials are not open to opinions other than their own, and it would seem that individuals with this mindset would prefer a controlling, self-oriented, conflict management style. No studies have investigated the relationship between narcissism and conflict management styles of this generation, and this study was an examination of this relationship. Results indicated a weak, but significant relationship between narcissism and a self-oriented conflict management style, and that narcissistic individuals will not employ an other-oriented conflict management style. Suggestions for future research on conflict management styles and narcissism are discussed.
