Description
Miguel de Cervantes’ 17th-century masterpiece Don Quixote is many things—the most translated non-religious book in history, arguably the first modern novel—but what it has yet to be classified as is a work of science fiction. This presentation argues that Don Quixote’s momentous descent into the tenebrous Cave of Montesinos sheds a much-needed light on Dr. Eleanor Arroway’s voyage to the star Vega in Contact almost four hundred years later.
