Abstract
- The purpose of this project is to provide a simulated environment for triage during and after an explosion for Tactical Combat Casualty Care skills training. The focus is on the treatment of injuries sustained during a blast using the standard operating guidelines provided by the Navy Medical Center. The equipment available in the simulation will be based on medical kits that are provided to military personnel in real life situations. The injuries will be varied from minor (mildly-wounded) to life-threatening (severe bleeding). The scenario will test the user’s ability to determine which injuries to treat first as well as testing the implementation of the proper treatments. Improper treatments could lead to loss of life or limb. The intent is to have several scenarios with different stressors. An instructor or observer have control of some aspects of the environment including the timing of explosion, increased stressors and patient’s response to treatments.
