Abstract
- Absorbed residues were extracted and analyzed from four sherds excavated from site 31GF466. Abundant amounts of residue were extracted from each of the four sherds, but only one contained a sterol biomarker, providing a definitive indication of plant use. All four residues, however, were distinguished by abundant unsaturated fatty acids, suggesting that they were comprised primarily of plant lipids. Two of the residues contained fairly abundant hydroxyl-fatty acids, which may also indicate a plant contribution.
