Description
Simulation-based teaching techniques have been shown effective in training health care providers. In the clinical research field, simulation is underutilized as a training tool. In the summer of 2017, researchers from UNCW’s Clinical Research Program completed a pilot study on the feasibility of using lab-based simulation techniques to reinforce clinical research principles. In collaboration with the School of Nursing Simulation Center, researchers evaluated 10 students as they participated in simulations on obtaining informed consent in clinical studies. The researchers determined that simulation is a feasible method of teaching clinical research concepts that warrants further evaluation of the method’s effectiveness.
