Abstract
- The purpose of this pilot program was to increase minority adolescent girls’ knowledge about condoms, pregnancy prevention, HIV, and other sexually transmitted infections and strengthen beliefs and intentions related to condom use and delaying sexual initiation. The Be Proud! Be Responsible! curriculum was selected from a list of evidence-based programs endorsed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Researchers implemented the curriculum with a group of minority girls between the ages of 13 and 18 during a four-week summer program at a Boys and Girls Club. The program was evaluated using a non-experimental, one group pre-test-post-test design.
