Description
There are over 1 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the U.S. (CDC, 2017). The southeast bears the greatest burden when it comes to the lifetime risk of contracting the virus. While public health research has focused on preventative measures to reduce the number of new infections, providing care for People Living with HIV/AIDS is also important. To learn about the experiences of one population disproportionately affected by the epidemic, this study sought to explore the experiences of HIV positive African American women who had been living with the virus for 10 or more years.
